Mentoring Program on Sensor Technology Applications

IETE Diamond Jubilee National Seminar on Sensors was held during 29 -30 Aug 2013 at the Kurukshetra Institute of Technology and Management, Kurukshetra. The Seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Surendra Pal, President, IETE. Other eminent personalities who shared the dais were: VC, KUK; Mr. R.K. Gupta, Chairman, IETE Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Committee; Dr. L.K. Maheshwari, Advisor to the Chancellor BITS, Pilani; Mr. Satyapal, Chairman, KITM, Kurkshetra and Dr. P.J. George, Principal Director, KITM. The Inaugural Session was hosted by Dr. Anil Jain, Chairman IETE Ambala. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. P.J. George, Director-Principal, KITM, Kurukshetra.
Lt Gen (Dr) Sandhu in his address emphasized on the innovation and new research ideas in the field of technology. Shri R K Gupta mentioned the role of IETE, its activities in the development of the nation, upliftment of the technology together with motivating the students to actively participate in the sensors based projects. Dr. L.K. Maheswari described the fundamental use of the sensors designing in vital products for day today life. Dr. Surendra Pal, President IETE explained how sensors can be used in the Space Research Technology, Communication and in the other sectors of technology. He explained the inter¬relationship of different fields of technology with the use of sensors. Shri Satya Pal Aggarwal, Chairman, KITM, Kurukshetra informed about the role of KITM in developing technology. The Distinguished Guests were honoured with shawl and mementos. The vote of thanks was proposed by the convener of the ceremony Shri Rakesh Garg.
The three technical sessions of contributed research papers were chaired by Associate Prof. Thapar University, Patiala; Dr. L.K. Maheshwari, BITS, Pilani; Dr. (Mrs.) Anurekha Sharma, Electronics Science Department, Kurukshetra University, respectively, and they motivated the participants by telling them the importance of such seminars in upgrading knowledge and sharing of ideas and their implementation in their career growth.
